He Called Tonight

He says he is done, he says he needs something different, he says he is tired. He says he needs to slow down.

I said that he can't come back here, I said that I won't pay for him to get back here, I told him that I am glad that he knows he needs something different. I told him that I love him and that I know he will make the right choice for him.

I know that I did the right thing.

Peace to you all.

  1. He can accept recovery no matter where he is, this is good.

The one thing I'd ask you to do when you talk to him. After our son got clean Alex said he never forgot or doubted us. It is good when you tell him you love him but do you believe in him? Alex said he always had that even when he was using he knew we believed in him.

I love you and I BELIEVE in you.

Even yourself, how does it feel when someone tells you that they believe in you?

Yes, you did the right thing. Let us hope he does the right thing.

  2. Great advice from Ron. And good for you mama. YES....you did the right thing. You love your boy enough to give him the dignity to find his way on his own like the grown man that he is.

  3. Of course you did the right thing. I like what Ron said to, but what if its not true (asking for myself as well as you). I actually believe in Anthony more than Keven. I SAY I believe in him to him, but do I believe it? Does it matter?

    Thinking of you today.

  4. I like what Ron said as well but Barbara makes a good point. I have never really thought about it like that. I have hope for him, I have a belief that my son is capable of making changes, and I do tell him that all the time. Is it okay to say the words and not really feel it totally?

    Thank you all.

  5. I pray he is really finished. Aren't those wonderful words to hear. Kindness, love and support ALWAYS in recovery. Kindness and love in active addiction. Those are the rules I try and live by.

  6. Terri, I know what you mean. I'd have a hard time telling my daughter that I believe in her when in reality I don't. How can I believe in someone if they don't show any signs of improvement. Talking about it does not count. I would only say that I believe that you are able to make the right decisions for you (that is what you said).
